About
George Pitagorsky is Self-Aware Living's originator and principal contributor. He is an author, coach, speaker, teacher, and consultant with over 40 years of experience blending meditation, yoga, and wisdom concepts into daily life.
George grew up in Brooklyn and Queens, New York, and lives in the heart of Manhattan. After studying economics and history at college, George's career began with several years as a software developer at the dawn of the computer age. He was a principal in two technology start-ups, a Chief Information Officer, and a recognized thought leader in learning development, project management, and process improvement. After years of practicing Kundalini Yoga, he took mindfulness meditation as a core practice.
For almost five decades George has dynamically balanced his career with family life and the pursuit of personal growth through meditation and learning from masters in Buddhist and Yogic traditions. He has coached, written books and articles, and taught courses, and workshops to apply mindfulness and non-dual and process thinking in relationships, management, and leadership.
His fifth book, The Peaceful Warrior's Path: Optimal Wellness through Self-aware Living, is a guidebook that addresses mindset and techniques to cultivate sustained wellness in an active life.
Mission Statement
Self-aware Living's mission is to better enable individuals and teams to achieve optimal physical and emotional wellness and performance.
The approach recognizes everyone's uniqueness and at the same time our commonality. We facilitate the integration into daily life of practical intelligence, mindful awareness, physical awareness, and a positive, realistic mindset. The aim is to teach people to "fish" - that is, to take on the persistent, patient effort required to be optimally well and to experience the contentment that comes with that.

Everyone has a mindset. Knowing what it is and that it can be changed is a foundation for living as best as possible in the face of the challenges of change and uncertainty. With self-awareness and the right mix of tools and concepts, we can ensure our mindset adds value rather than gets in the way.
